SD LFF Poster Contest 2013

Happy Halloween!!!  The poster contest deadline for entries is also today & this here, is my entry.  8.5″ x 11″, water-based paint pens on canvas.  I added the font digitally.  I found a cool font, CM Chipped Paint, & modified it with rounded edges, custom holes through the digits, & created the numbers using the letters as a reference. 

For the Media Arts Center, in charge of organizing The 20th Annual, San Diego Latino Film Festival, 2013, held at UltraStar Cinemas, in The Hazard Center in Mission Valley, they don’t want stereotypical Latino depictions, & I figured imagery of films & reels are really tired, so this was my solution.  With a nod to San Diego, I depicted the Coronado Bridge, over a colorful, bright, obviously stylized sunset.  The repetitive circles & the zero in the 20, only hinting at a film reel reference.
